Sharkkara Upperi for Kozhikode Sadya

Ingredients for Sharkkara Upperi for Kozhikode Sadya:

1. Raw banana after removing skin, split into two and sliced with a little thickness – 1 cup

2. Coconut oil – 2 cups

3. Jaggery – 4 pieces (Achu)

4. Water – 2 big spoons

5. Ghee – 1 big spoon

    Sugar – 1 big spoon

    Dried ginger powder – ½ big spoon

6. Cumin powder – 1 big spoon

    Dried ginger powder – ½ big spoon

How to prepare Sharkkara Upperi for Kozhikode Sadya?

1. Wash banana pieces and drain water completely.

2. Fry banana in hot oil and allow it to cool.

3. Powder the jaggery and add water to dissolve it completely.

4. Then place jaggery solution in flame and boil it well.

5. When it turns thread like, add ingredients no: 5 to it and mix well.

6. When it’s done, add fried banana pieces to it and mix well.

7. Take off your Sharkkara upperi from flame and add ingredients no: 6.

8. Continue stirring till the content is almost cooled.

9. You can serve after Sharkkara upperi is fully cooled.
